So I wasn’t going to write anything about this. But I feel I should. So here it goes…
Our daughter was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 in July. It is a rare neurological condition which is defined by progressive muscle weakness and a severely limited life expectancy. In the early hours of Saturday morning we rushed her into hospital with severe respiratory distress. She passed away peacefully in our arms a few hours later, aged just 10 months.
Needless to say the last week has passed in a fog of disbelief, exhaustion and distress. To give us something to do, we went down to the allotment to repaint the shed.
After opening the paint which claimed to be mid brown in colour, and was in fact orange, we began painting. Fortunately as the paint dried the orange shed, changed to a lovely brown colour, much to my relief.
We also walked down to the new coop to find all our girls in residence including our Vorwerks and Cream Legbars. The quail are also in residence in their coop and apparently there are plans to change their coop so it is more weatherproof.
The bottom plot has had major changes in the last week. The guys have removed some of the fencing and cleared some of the ground ready to turn the plot into a nature area including a pond and beehives.
I’m so sorry to read this. Sending you love and strength. I’m glad your allotment has helped you and given you something to focus on. X x

Thanks very much. It is still very hard to realise that she isn’t here. Having the allotment means we can get away from it all although we are going at times when we know no one else will be there because we are not wanting to socialise at the moment

That’s understandable. x x

My condolences on your sad loss. I am glad you find some solace in the allotment. I find playing in the dirt does calm one and give one peace. Wishing you the best.
