Today marks a significant day in the allotment year – Potato Day. Arranged every year by the Crewe Town Allotment Federation, it’s an opportunity to buy seed potatoes and a variety of other seeds for the growing season.
Every year, we buy a selection of seeds, enjoying browsing all the different varieties, most of which we have never heard of! This year I branched out from the usual seed potatoes and vegetable seeds to include a new blueberry bush and a red gooseberry bush.
I have never had much luck with blueberries but this year will hopefully be different. On the way home I dropped into Wilkos and bought some flower seeds. To help the bees and liven up our plot, I plan to have a small flower area. On top of this, I am finally going to create my mini herb garden using the pot from our olive tree.
