RIP Dora

After a couple of quieter days for Dora, I found she had passed away this morning. It’s always sad when we lose one of our girls, especially when they are quite young. Dora was a very timid personality, who rarely came within touching range. She preferred to skirt around the edges of the group, occasionally buddying up with Flora for some company.

Dora came to us at around six months old with three other point of lay girls (Cora, Alba and Flora). Initially Cora and Dora led the way but since we lost Cora, only a few weeks after we got her, Dora has been quieter. She’s been a happy girl, always enjoying a dust bath or a chance to doze in a sunny spot in the coop.

This will be the first time in several years that we haven’t had a Black Rock in our flock. I love Black Rocks as they are no nonsense and have brilliant personalities. I will miss Dora and her quiet ways.
