It’s been a quiet few days on our allotment. We have been down feeding the chickens and enjoying the fresh air. The jobs that need doing have been put aside for another day as we have been so busy already this season.
Today however, I received very exciting news! Steve’s beautiful Buff Orpington has managed to hatch 5 chicks! I adore that massive feathery chicken. As she is such a large fowl, Steve managed to get 13 eggs under her. Personally, I reckon he could have easily got a few more in under all those feathers! The chicks are absolutely adorable balls of yellow fluff. The cuteness factor is off the chart!
Further exciting news is due this week as Cliff’s favourite old leghorn is due to hatch her chicks. We will have to wait until Thursday to see whether there will be more chicks on site. Here’s hoping!
