So after arriving back from a couple of days away, I was curious to see how Trixy and Stratus were doing. Trixy’s eggs could hatch as early as Friday – she has sat so brilliantly, it’s very exciting to see if all her hard work will pay off!
Stratus on the other hand is struggling to work out how to be a broody. After several days of trying to persuade her to sit on the eggs rather than next to them, she seems to have settled fully. When I opened up the nest box, I was delighted to find her sitting with all six eggs under her. Not more risking losing a hand, trying to roll the eggs underneath her every time she shuffled around on the nest.
Tomorrow’s plan is to clean out the Omlet and dismantle the old nest box in the main coop.
