RIP Cassie

Unfortunately, I discovered Cassie had passed away this morning. Although I expected she might, it’s always rather upsetting. I comforted myself with the knowledge she had a peaceful last couple of days without being picked on and snuggled up warm in the indoor coop.

Cassie was always a bit more timid than her big sister Aggie but she had a lovely temperament. With both Aggie and Cassie passing away very young, I do worry about whether there is some sort of genetic issue with our Rhode Island Reds. I intend to keep a very close eye on Tommy as he is now the sole survivor of our trio.

So for now, we are down to one Rhode Island Red. Here’s hoping Tommy copes in the coop without his sister to tell him what to do!
