It’s been a busy bank holiday filled with DIY and painting. But I did manage to escape the paint fumes for an hour this morning to feed the chickens. Fortunately, everyone was on their best behaviour and there were no missing chickens, escaping chickens or marauding eggs in the water bowl. For this, I am truly thankful!

But it was in the greenhouse that the day’s biggest surprise was found. All the seed trays had burst into life – even the butternut squash, climbing beans and peas! The rest of the seedlings had gone berserk in the past two days! I’ll need to urgently re-pot them in the next couple of days before they turn the greenhouse into a jungle.

The question is, what am I going to do with all of these plants? Granted several of them will probably not survive (either through lack of watering or eaten by passing birds) but there are far too many. Luckily, there are lots of people on site who grow different things on site so swapping plants is a great way of helping others if their seeds don’t grow or to try new varieties.
